Properly Using Tags And Categories

Categories = Table Of Contents (1 category per post max)
Tags = Index Words (4 tags per post max)

The main purpose of a business blog is to serve as an educational resource center that strategically leads your target audience through a predetermined, and well organized path of information that is relevant to their specific needs, as well as anticipated questions.

Categories are the top level sections that allow readers to start browsing posts by subject, and tags allow readers to narrow down their research by specific topic or keyword.

Examples:

Category = Mortgage Programs

Tags = FHA Mortgage, 203k, VA Loans, STATE

We have already set up the featured tags and categories on MyFHAblog, so you don’t have to worry about trying to make anything new up.

However, if you cannot find a specific tag in the list, please email us with a link to your post and the suggested tags you’d like to add.

**The state pages also feature the most recent posts that have been tagged with that state’s name, so don’t forget to add your state as one of your 4 tags.

Don’t spam your categories or tags just to get a particular article found more within your blog.

If your readers feel like you don’t respect their time by sending them all over your site looking at unrelated posts, then they’ll eventually stop trusting the information and direction you provide.
