Contributor Frequently Asked Questions

Blog Contributor Guidelines

1. A Minimum Of One Article Per Month:

Recent contributors are featured on the home page, and you’re posts will also show up on the individual state pages provided you tag your article with your state name.

**Contributors with 5 or more articles will be featured on the state page index and google map

The more content we provide on our site, the higher the group’s search engine rankings and traffic will be.

Basically, consider this a massive group project with one objective:

To get found at the precise moment our target audience is on Google looking for an answer to a specific mortgage related question that may impact their buying decision.

We believe that we have the best and right answers to our clients’ questions, which is why we have to make sure they find us vs someone else that may lead them down the wrong path and take advantage of them.

2. Only Write Articles About The City You’re Located In:

Blogging and Search Engine Marketing at this level is a team sport. Since our articles tend to rank very high in the SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages), it’s important to be sensitive to the other contributors on this blog and not target potential clients in their city.

However, if someone contacts you, there are no rules about giving that client to the local loan officer. It would be a nice gesture though.

3. No Specific Rate Quotes:

Rates change several times a day, so it isn’t fair to lead our readers on. Write about everything else rate related, but just don’t list rates.

4. No Using Official Logos:

Please keep all official HUD, FHA, VA, USDA logos off of this site. If you happen to find one from an old post, please contact us immediately to have it removed.

5. Don’t Steal Photos:

We have a tutorial about how to find and properly credit photos that you use in your posts.

6. No Duplicate Content:

Basically, duplicate content is anything that you’ve written on another site. You CAN repurpose another article you’ve written by simply changing at least 30% of the content.

7. Don’t Copy / Paste From A Microsoft Word Document:

If you are copying something from Microsoft Word, please paste it in the HTML editor or the Word Importer. (There’s a tutorial on this as well)

Contributor Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Write For My FHA Blog?

New contributors have to fill out a short application, review all tutorials, demonstrate that they have a basic knowledge of blogging and list one current member as a referral.

Please click on the link in the right sidebar to view application.

How Much Does It Cost To Join?

While there is currently no charge to be featured on our national network of mortgage professionals, the only requirement is that each contributor publish at least one article per month.

How Many Loan Originators Can Participate Per State?

*There are a few cities and states locked up per prior commitments, but we have opened up most of the country for new contributors based on a case-by-case basis.

Basically, some areas may allow for more contributors due to the size or driving distances between offices. Since our goal is to provide a comprehensive mortgage resource center for borrowers and real estate agents, it only makes sense to lock down an entire city if there is a significant amount of local content coming out of that area.

We want everyone to have an opportunity to be successful on our platform, and it isn’t our intent to prevent good bloggers from participating if they have valuable information to share with our community and readers.

Don’t worry, with only a few mortgage bloggers actively publishing content to the web, there is plenty of room for a few true professionals per city.

Raincityguide.com, WannaNetwork.com and Bloodhoundblog.com have already proven that competing agents in one city can still thrive on the same high traffic platform.

How Does MyFHAblog Pay The Bills By Offering Free Memberships?

MyFHAblog.com is primarily funded by member donations.

While we may run small targeted advertising specials for non-competing products and services to help cover the costs of maintenance and development, we have a true “Good Will” business model based on providing value to our contributors.

This blog proves that we can achieve powerful and positive results if we work as a team, which is why we personally approve each author to ensure everyone in our family understands our vision of the Givers Gain Principle.

Can Real Estate Agents Join?

Not at this time. We are only looking for experienced loan originators that can effectively articulate the complex mortgage process in a manner that agents and borrowers can understand.

Do I Have To Know How To Blog Before I Write On MyFHAblog?

Yes, but we have a complete tutorial section that will teach you everything you need to know about writing articles that get found on the web, embedding videos, linking to other sites and labeling your posts so that they will be featured on strategic internal pages.

Do I Have To Have My Own Blog Or Site?

No. Actually, some of our most successful contributors haven’t even set up their own blog.

I’m A National Lender, Can I Write About Other Cities Where I’m Not Located?

No, this blog is intended to feature “Local’ mortgage professionals.

However, you’re free to mention other cities as they apply to your posts as long as you don’t target those cities in your titles for strategic SEO search results. Be sensitive to the other guys and gals.

Can I Feature My Daily Rates?

No. Since rates change several times a day, it wouldn’t be fair to the other contributors or our readers if you were advertising rates that may be different seconds after you hit publish.

Articles about how rates move, news that may impact current rates, national trends…. and so forth are acceptable and encouraged.

How Often Do I Have To Contribute?

The purpose of this blog is to leverage the community’s content so that each of us can write excellent articles when we’re inspired and have time vs having to maintain a daily content schedule required of a personal blog.

Time is valuable, especially if you’re focused on serving the true needs of your clients and agents.

In exchange for being featured on this blog, each contributor commits to writing at least one article per month.

The most recent contributors are featured on the home page with a valuable link back to your profile and outside web site.

Non-producing contributors will be removed from the state search pages until they get caught up.

Can I Link Out To My Other Blogs And Articles?

Yes, but you have to write a complete article and embed your links as part of the content or at the end for more info about you.

Basically, a short summary with “click here to read the rest of this post on my blog” is not allowed.

Can I Re-Publish My Articles On MyFHAblog From My Other Sites?

Yes and No – Unique content only this blog. However, you can change 30% of your post and have it still be considered “Unique” content.

We’re extremely liberal with how our contributors leverage the SEO power of our site to boost up the search results of their other online projects. Please just use common sense and remember that we’re a team

Can I Post Listings?

No. But, you can write an article about a special mortgage program that is available for a certain type of property and then give an example. Be smart, don’t spam

Can I Publish My Videos?

Yes!! We love videos and will feature the best ones that have a more universal appeal. We’ll even include a strong link back to your profile and web site.

My Bank Doesn’t Allow My To Post Anything Online, What Do I Do?

It’s understandable since some other loan officers have said and done stupid things online. Contact Mark to talk about a solution.

What If Another Contributor Writes Something Bad That I Don’t Agree With?

Our reputation is important to us.

We have several site moderators that help with quality control. We can fix it, unless you feel like contacting the other contributor directly.

We’ve also found that a simple delete or edit always fixes these types of issues real quick.
