Your Provo Mortgage grant will come in the form of  a 0% interest, deferred payment loan. There is no payment due as long as you own and live in the house as your primary residence. You do not need to be a first time home buyer to qualify for this grant.

If you occupy the home for at least five years $5,000 of the loan amount is forgiven. For each full year thereafter an additional $1,000 shall be forgiven. This will continue for up to ten years for a maximum of $10,000. No amount will be forgiven if you reside in the home for less than five years.

You can get Utah’s Home Purchase Grant Assistance Guide for free. Just click the book on the right. You can find out if you qualify HERE.

There are a few restrictions that you need to be aware of:

  • You must purchase the home in a targeted area (see map below)
  • You also must be able to contribute a minimum of $1,000 towards the mortgage on the home
  • The purchase price can not exceed $232,305
  • Maximum income limits apply
  • Home must be a single family home, a home with a legal accessory apartment, one half of a twin home or a town home
  • Apply as soon as you are thinking of buying as it may take two to three weeks to be approved for money
  • A renter must not be displaced by your purchase of the home

This grant is simple to apply for and it is easy to qualify as long as you are buying in a Pioneer targeted area.
