California First Time Home Buyers can use 8000 Tax Credit for Down Payment

On May 14, 2009, in Tips And Advice, by Jonas Kruckeberg

It’s not official yet, but FHA is working on allowing California First Time Home Buyers to use the $8000 tax credit for a down payment on a home in Riverside County including Temecula and Murrieta.

The Secretary of HUD released a mortgagee letter 2009-15 on Monday, May 11, 2009, that provided very little detail in the procedure for First Time Home Buyers to obtain this credit. The letter has since been removed from the site until Secretary Shaun Donavan can iron out the details. We were able to save a copy of the letter prior to the removal.

This is the first time the $8000 tax credit can be used at the closing table for a down payment on a California FHA Home Loan. Here’s a quick video on this ground breaking news – 8000 Tax Credit Video

While HUD figures out the parameters, now is the best time to be pre-approved for a California Home Purchase with California Mortgage Rates at all time lows, this is the Perfect Opportunity!
